Preparation
Rehabilitation of Railway Line Between Durres and Rrogozhine
The works will be carried out under two contracts. Contract W1: Civil Works, Signalling and Telecommunications. The Works will comprise the design and construction of approximately 34 km of permanent way, largely following the existing alignment, including construction and reconstruction of bridges and pedestrian over and underpasses, minor realignment and reconstruction of tunnel (380m), modernisation of level crossings, installation of ETCS Level 1 and GSM-R, telecommunications subsystems, reconstruction of 4 stations and construction of 1 new stop, construction or reconstruction of parallel access roads and climate adaptation measures. Contract W2: Electrification Works. The Works will comprise the electrification of approximately 44 km of main and station lines including connections to the high voltage grid, construction of substations, installation of overhead catenary system and related minor works.
Contract W2: Electrification Works are expected to be tendered about 1-1.5 years after the commencement of C1 works. The arrangements for interface between the two contracts shall be prescribed in the respective tender documents The tender documents will include draft conditions of contract which are expected to be the FIDIC Conditions of Contract for Plant and Design Build, First Edition, 1999, as amended through particular conditions. The tender documents will, interalia, require that the selected contractors perform the works in line with the provisions of an Environmental and Social
Covenant to be submitted by all bidders and then incorporated into the subsequent contract signed with the selected contractors. Licenses from the relevant Albanian Authorities will not required at the time of expressing interest/bid submission, but will be required for the performance of the contract, in accordance with the terms of the tender documents.
