Alessandro D’Oria al vertice di Intesa SanPaolo Bank Albania
Alessandro D’Oria will be the new General Manager of Intesa Sanpaolo Albania Bank.
Sources of the bank inform that D’Oria was chosen to replace the outgoing director, Silvio Pedrazzi, but his appointment will be formalized after receiving approval from the Bank of Albania.
Alessandro D’Oria currently holds the position of Director of Retail Banking and Wealth Management at the Foreign Branches Division of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group.
D’Oria has been part of the Milanese Intesa banking group since 2004, before joining the Turin-based Sanpaolo IMI group. He held the position of Regional Director for the Calabria and Puglia Regions, initially for Intesa and after 2007 for the Intesa Sanpaolo Group. In 2015 he was appointed regional director for the Milan area, while in 2017 he took up the position of Retail Director in the International Group Division. In February 2020, at the same time, he was entrusted with the management of the Asset Management Department.
D’Oria will succeed Silvio Pedrazzi, head of the Albanian branch, who after almost eight years in office has decided to retire. Pedrazzi has led Intesa Sanpaolo Bank into a delicate phase in which the banking system has had to face the need to manage a growing level of non-performing loans and most of the foreign banks have maintained prudent positions, focusing mainly on improving the quality of the portfolio and avoiding high risk exposures. However, unlike most other foreign-owned banks, Intesa Sanpaolo did not experience a contraction in its market share in the period led by Pedrazzi. From 11.7% of the banking market assets it owned at the end of 2013, Intesa Sanpaolo owned approximately 12% of the market in March 2021,
The change at the helm of the bank comes at a time when the Albanian economy has gone through the most difficult moment of the pandemic and is oriented towards a return to positive growth. According to the latest data from the same bank, D’Oria will inherit a bank in good condition, with a bad loan ratio that was 3.8% at the end of February 2021, less than half the average. entire banking sector.
The year 2020 closed with a net profit of around ALL 1.3 billion, while the quarter I 2021 was positive, with a profit of ALL 459 million.
As of March 2021, Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania had 35 branches and 655 employees.
